Looking Back... Why Boca de Tomatlan Still Feels Like the Best Vacation We've Ever Found

You quickly begin recognizing familiar faces, local shop owners greet you with a smile, and it's easy to feel like part of the community instead of just another tourist passing through. Sometimes the best vacation memories aren't made standing in long lines and travelling in a rush. They're made sitting by the river or beach watching fishermen bring in their catch while enjoying your morning coffee with the mountain view.

Boca - More Than Just a Place to Stay

One of the biggest advantages of staying in Boca is that you don't need to pack your bags every day to experience something new. From here you can easily visit secluded beaches, hike jungle trails, explore waterfalls, spend a day fishing, visit the Botanical Gardens or simply wander through neighboring villages and beaches nearby through a short fishing trip. Some are perfect for relaxing with your toes in the sand, others invite you to hike to waterfalls, enjoy fresh seafood or simply spend the afternoon watching the boats come and go. One of the great pleasures of staying in Boca is realizing that some of the area's most beautiful places are only a short boat ride away.

Is Yelapa even more laid-back than Boca? That conversation reminded me that every village along the South Shore has its own story and experience. Yelapa has no roads connecting it to Puerto Vallarta. Life moves at its own pace, and visitors quickly discover that time seems to slow down.
